Students at all ability levels benefit from this program, which helps them progress to the best of their ability in secondary maths.
The program covers all operations, fractions, decimals and percentage, geometry, algebra and equations, as well as strategies for solving both routine and complicated word problems. The main aim is to develop number sense.
Students who do well in higher levels of mathematics have a well-developed number sense, and can easily see the relationships between numbers. Students who become dependent on calculators for arithmetic tend to lose their numeracy skills and so generally students will not use calculators until at least Year 9.
